News from the SRVUSD about Governor Newsom's Announcement
Posted 10/1/21

This morning, Governor Newsom made an announcement that California will add Covid-19 vaccines to its list of immunizations required for school attendance in the first academic term after the Food and Drug Administration fully approves the vaccines for students 12 - 15 years of age, defined as January 1, 2022 or July 1, 2022, whichever comes first.  Right now the vaccine approval for those 12 - 15 years old is under emergency authorization. Once it is fully authorized, this new requirement goes into effect.

Though we do not yet know all of the details, the governor stated that teachers working with fully vaccinated students will be required to be vaccinated and there will be no testing option. He has also said that students will be able to apply for an exemption based on medical or personal beliefs.

At this time, we wanted to let you know that we are aware of the governor’s announcement. We want to emphasize that this information is still quite new. Further details have not yet been shared with school districts.

Throughout this pandemic, the SRVUSD has fulfilled all local and state health agency requirements. This will continue to be our policy. We will monitor this situation closely and will keep you informed about how the announcement impacts the schools of the SRVUSD.

Thank you, as always, for your partnership.
